Books

I’ve always been a reader.  Many of my favourites date back to my teenage years.  Humorous fiction by P G Wodehouse.  Mathematical recreations by Martin Gardner.  Practical Christianity by John White (The Fight).  Apologetics by John Young (The Case Against Christ).  And, of course, the Authorised Version of the Bible, which has now largely been replaced by the New International Version, but which contributed enormously to my spiritual development and also my appreciation of good writing.

My tastes haven’t changed a great deal.  I still enjoy fiction that’s well-written but not too heavy.  I’m a sucker for a new maths book.  My Christian reading tends towards the practical rather than the theological.  The main change is that I now very much enjoy reading about politics and history – especially social history.

In this section I’ll be giving my views on books that I’ve enjoyed and that you might too.
